These Law Enforcement & Legal Process Guidelines help courts, government agencies, law-enforcement personnel, attorneys, clients, and other authorized parties route valid legal requests to Road LLC efficiently. They apply to legal process and related requests concerning Road LLC and the public marketing website operated under the iv.org domain (the “Site”).

Road LLC values trust, confidentiality, loyalty, lawful cooperation, client protection, professional accountability, and disciplined data minimization. Those values guide how Road LLC receives and evaluates legal process. They are not promises that override applicable law or valid legal process.

This page is informational. It is not legal advice, does not create an attorney-client relationship, and is not a substitute for valid service of process or other process required by applicable law.

Purpose and scope

These guidelines describe preferred routing for:

Formal service of process
Civil subpoenas and other civil legal requests
Government and law-enforcement requests
Preservation and production of records
Requests involving confidential, proprietary, privileged, or otherwise protected material

Road LLC complies with applicable law while protecting confidential, proprietary, privileged, and personal information to the extent legally permitted.

These guidelines do not replace applicable law, court rules, or valid legal process. They do not create enforceable rights, contractual obligations, or a response deadline. They do not promise continuous availability, emergency response, or expedited treatment.

Formal service of process

Formal service of process must comply with applicable law. Applicable law controls whether a particular subpoena, warrant, administrative request, foreign process, or other demand is properly served. Do not assume every kind of process is properly served through the same method.

Email does not constitute Road LLC’s consent to electronic service. Road LLC may expressly agree in writing to an electronic method in a particular matter. Civil subpoenas and legal requests

Government and law-enforcement requests

Requests for non-public information must be supported by valid legal authority appropriate to the requested information and circumstances.

Road LLC is a consulting organization. It is not a consumer communications platform or a consumer account-hosting platform. These guidelines do not publish a data-category matrix of the kind used by large technology platforms.

Submission checklist

When submitting legal process or related requests, provide the following as applicable:

The issuing court, agency, or governmental authority
Case caption and docket, matter, or investigation number
Requesting officer, agent, attorney, or official
Title, badge number, bar number, or other professional identifier
Official agency, court, or law-firm email address
Official return contact information
A complete signed copy of the subpoena, warrant, order, demand, or other process
The legal authority supporting the request
The person, client, project, site, account, incident, or matter at issue
Precise categories of records requested
A specific and reasonable date range
The requested production format
The stated response or return date
Applicable confidentiality, nondisclosure, sealing, or notice restrictions
Secure-delivery instructions when sensitive information is involved

A request for additional information does not waive objections or extend Road LLC’s obligations beyond applicable law.

Minimum lawful disclosure

Road LLC reviews each request for validity, authority, jurisdiction, scope, specificity, and proper service. When disclosure is legally required, Road LLC seeks to provide only the minimum responsive information required by applicable law.

Road LLC may seek clarification, narrowing, modification, protection, or other appropriate relief when a request is:

Defective
Improperly served
Outside the issuing authority’s jurisdiction
Vague
Overbroad
Unduly burdensome
Disproportionate
Duplicative
Directed to information Road LLC does not possess, control, or maintain
Directed to privileged, confidential, proprietary, or otherwise protected material

These guidelines do not promise a particular objection or litigation strategy in every case.

Preservation versus production

A preservation request does not itself authorize disclosure.

Preservation is limited to information reasonably identified in the request and available to Road LLC. Road LLC may require sufficient identifiers, scope, legal authority, and duration. Preservation does not guarantee indefinite retention.

Production requires separate valid authority when applicable. Road LLC may preserve its objections and protections while maintaining identified records.

These guidelines do not publish internal retention mechanics, security procedures, or evidence-handling details.

Client notice

Where legally permitted and operationally appropriate, Road LLC may notify affected clients, data subjects, or their counsel before disclosure.

Notice may be withheld, limited, or delayed when:

Prohibited by law
Prohibited by a valid court order
Disclosure of the request is legally restricted
Notice would create a legally recognized risk that Road LLC is permitted or required to consider

Road LLC does not guarantee notification in every matter.

Confidentiality, privilege, and work product

Some Road LLC materials may be subject to:

Contractual confidentiality
Trade-secret protection
Proprietary-information protections
Attorney-client privilege
Attorney work-product protection
Personal-information protections
Professional duties
Other applicable legal protections

The existence and scope of a protection depend on the circumstances, governing law, the nature of the engagement, who retained Road LLC, and the particular records.

Road LLC may assert, preserve, or seek appropriate protection for such material.

This page does not claim that every Road LLC investigation is privileged. This page does not claim that client data will never be produced. This page does not claim that every court order overrides privilege. This page does not claim that Road LLC alone determines privilege conclusively. Following this page does not give a requester a right to protected information. This page does not claim that Road LLC can unilaterally determine whether a court order overrides privilege or another protection. This page does not guarantee that records will never be disclosed.

Nothing on this page creates, expands, determines, or waives attorney-client privilege, work-product protection, or any other protection available under applicable law.

Costs and burden

Road LLC may seek reimbursement, cost allocation, reasonable compensation, or other protection from significant burden or expense where permitted by applicable law or authorized by a court.

These guidelines do not publish a fee schedule and do not imply that payment guarantees production. Where authorized by applicable law or court order, Road LLC may seek reimbursement of costs associated with responding to legal process. No broader cost-shifting promise is made by this page.

Secure production

Road LLC may require an appropriate secure transmission method for sensitive responsive material.

These guidelines do not disclose internal security architecture, credentials, vendors, or detailed evidence-handling procedures.

No waiver or third-party rights

Nothing on this page:

Creates enforceable rights for any third party
Creates contractual obligations
Consents to jurisdiction
Consents to electronic service
Waives formal-service requirements
Waives objections
Waives privilege, confidentiality, work product, or other protections
Expands Road LLC’s possession, custody, or control
Promises that responsive information exists
Promises disclosure
Establishes a response deadline
Guarantees non-disclosure of any record
Promises continuous availability, emergency response, or expedited treatment
Authorizes electronic service absent an express written agreement in a particular matter

These guidelines may be changed as law, technology, and Road LLC’s practices evolve.
